Necrotizing hepatopancreatitis bacteria (NHPB) is a bacterial disease which targets penaeid shrimp. NHPB was originally identified in 1990 in cultured Litopenaeus vannamei in Texas, USA. The disease has now been reported in several locations throughout the Western hemisphere. NHPB can result in significant production losses, with mortality losses ranging from 20% to 95% within 30 days of an outbreak. NHP-B real time PCR kit contains a specific ready-to-use system for the detection of the NHP-B by polymerase chain reaction in the real-time PCR system. The master mix contains reagents and enzymes for the specific amplification of the NHP-B DNA. Fluorescence is emitted and measured by the real time systems´ optical unit. The detection of NHP-B fragment is performed in fluorimeter channel FAM with the fluorescent quencher BHQ1. Kit included with a ready to use DNA extraction buffer and gill or muscle samples are used for the extraction of the DNA. In addition, the kit contains a system to identify possible PCR inhibition by measuring the HEX/VIC/JOE fluorescence of the internal control (IC). An external positive control (1×107copies/ml) contained, allows the determination of the gene load.
